The speed on the CarPlay Dashboard
- You need iOS 26 or later and a CarPlay system that shows Live Activities on the Dashboard.
- Live Activities must be allowed for SpeedoMe in Settings → SpeedoMe.
- Open SpeedoMe and tap Start. The app waits for you and does not start measuring by itself. The speed tile then appears on the Dashboard.
Why does the Live Activity update only every 15 seconds?
iOS limits how often an app can refresh a Live Activity. After a few minutes of one update per second, the system slows updates down to about one every 15 seconds. Switch the mode button from Normal to Forced: SpeedoMe then restarts the Live Activity every few minutes, before the limit is reached, so the speed keeps updating about once per second. Forced mode works while SpeedoMe is open on the screen, and the orange counter under the speed shows the time until the next restart. In Normal mode the green counter shows the age of the last reading.
Why does the speed show a dash?
There is no valid GPS reading yet. Make sure Location access is set to While Using the App with Precise Location turned on, and that you have a clear view of the sky.
Why are the digits a darker blue?
Bright blue is the speed reported by the device. A darker blue means the device gave no speed and SpeedoMe calculated it from the last two positions.
How do I switch between km/h and mph?
Tap the unit under the digits. The Live Activity changes with it.
How do I quit the app completely?
Tap the red button in the top-left corner. It stops measuring, removes the Live Activity and closes the app.
Accuracy
The speed comes from GPS and is for information only. Your vehicle's own speedometer is the reference. Set the app up before you drive and do not use your phone while driving.
